Someone out there needs to invent more and better snacks. I know there are a lot of snacks on the market now, but they are mostly of the same variety. We need something different.

When I’m at my cottage, for some reason I have a heightened craving for snacks. Some might say it’s my super power, but that would not be a very productive super power.
At home I can finish dinner and be good for the rest of the night. But at the cottage, I need something to snack on in the evening.
I usually turn to the candy cupboard. … Maybe that’s the problem; we have a candy cupboard.
It gets pretty boring though when you’re always reaching for licorice or chocolate ( I love an extra long Big Turk bar every once in a while).
What I really need is a snack that is absolutely delicious but not fattening.
They sent people to the moon – again – but they can’t come up with a snack that melts in your mouth, that you can eat all day and then step on the scale the next morning only to find you are down half a pound.
Why couldn’t scientists do something useful like that?
So the other day I was in the car. I had dropped Lily off at the beach and thought, “Hey, this is a great time to look for some good snacks.”
Of course I went straight for the grocery store because that’s where you buy real food. I didn’t want to be confronted with a million of the same kind of options I’d find at the convenience store or candy shop. … Yes, we have a candy shop at Sauble Beach.
At the grocery store I decided to walk aisle by aisle to take in everything that could be considered a snack.
There were a few aisles I skipped with cleaning supplies or diaper products. But other than those few rows, I walked up and down every aisle.
I got some loaf cake, cookies, corn chips (and regular chips), chocolate (President’s Choice Fruit and Nut bar) and some popcorn.
After I got home, I spread my haul out on the couch like I’d just come back from trick-or-treating. Then I noticed it was all the same kinds of products I always get.
… And believe me, when I weigh myself in the morning, I won’t be down half a pound after eating some of this stuff! I will have enjoyed it but my belly will have grown to about four months’ pregnant.
I was happy with my purchases, but sad that I was unable to find something really different and really good.
Elon Musk maybe could spare a few scientists from SpaceX for a new project. They could call it SnackX and really do the world a favour by developing snacks that will make us better, stronger, faster and also happy.
Come on. We need a delicious and healthy and eat-as-much-as-you’d-like snack.
Here’s the thing: In life, snacking never leads to anything good, even when we wish it would or could. It’s also true spiritually. Snacking on God, accepting a little of this or that, following God just a little, will never lead to a real relationship with Him. With God you have to go all in. Believe in Him for all He is, the one true God, loving, holy and just. We do that through His Son, Jesus Christ. Accepting Jesus, taking Him in as boss and Saviour will fill you up with qualities that really do satisfy like peace, forgiveness and love. And they won’t leave you feeling bloated.
